NFL MVP

Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, (and please don't even say Cam Newton) what do they all have in common? Besides rocket arms, and pinpoint accuracy, they are all in the running for league MVP and rightfully so. Each of these players right now are playing at such a high level. This decade might be the new "age of the Quaterback" in NFL history. Just a side thought quickly, do you realize that if Aaron Rodgers goes on to play at this level for the next 5+ years, the Green Bay Packers could have arguably the best QB of our era, who was preceeded by one of the top 10 QB's of all time?

So if you had to vote right now, who would get your ballot? I say all our rightfully deserving and it would be hard to argue no with any of them. But I want you to think about this for a minute. Since 2008 Drew Brees has thrown for 14,077 yards 101 tds and has 32 wins. Tom Brady has thrown for 13,106 yards (used 2007 stats because 2008 new injury) 116 tds, and has 35wins. Aaron Rodgers has thrown for 12,374 yards, 88tds, and has 27 wins. While Peyton Manning has thrown for 13,200 yards, 93tds and has he most wins at 36.

But to me the most telling stat is the 2011 stat line. look at his WR/RB Stats.
(through 6 games)
Reggie Wayne
2011 30 receptions 426 yards receiving, and 3 touchdowns.

Austin Collie
2011 15 receptions 139 yards 0 TD's

Joseph Addai
58 carries 257 yards 1 TRd

VS

2010 Reggie Wayne
111 catches 1,355 yards 6td's

2010 Austin Collie
58 catches 649 yards 8td's

2009 Joesph Addai (last full season)
219 attempts 828 yards 10 td's

Do you believe that any of these players will hit the numbers they hit in the previous season? Will they come even close? Will the Colts even have 1 Pro Bowl selection?

The Colts are currently 0-6 with a good chance they could finish with 2 wins or less, my bet is they win 1 game at best. In the past two season, the Colts are a combined 10-2 in their first 6 games of each season, a far cry from where this team is headed.

My argument is simple, I believe no other player in the NFL is more important to his team then #18. That is why he would get my vote for league MVP.

God Bless Cleveland...... Please?

  1. most valuable to his team? without question.

Rogers and Brees are incredible to watch...especially after suffering through the Browns/'Hawks game Sunday. Obviously #18 isn't getting the trophy this year but my vote through week 7 is going to Rogers.
